All profiles listed here are SKF standard machined K08 piston seals and can be produced in virtually any dimension and in different materials.
K08 piston seals are energizer loaded composite hydraulic seals designed to seal between two pressurized spaces (K08-P, K08-D, K08-DS) respectively against the atmosphere (K08-E, K08-ES), mainly for reciprocating movements.
These seals are part of the comprehensive SKF machined seals assortment and the design is based on applications in standard hydraulic systems with conventional hydraulic oils. The operating parameters are as defined in the sealing and material data sheet. Requirements deviating from these parameters can be met to a certain degree by changing the geometry in the SKF SEAL JET machine software.
Application range
- Reciprocating pistons in hydraulic cylinders, small swivelling motion permissible
- Piston seal for medium duty applications – valid for K08-P
- Piston seal for low friction applications of if smooth running is required – valid for K08-D, K08-DS, K08-E and K08-ES
- Especially suitable for larger diameter and heavy-duty hydraulic applications – valid for K08-DS and K08-ES
Materials
Material selection has a significant impact on the seal performance as well as reliability of the whole system.
Recommended sealing materials and operating parameters are defined in the seal data sheets.

For special requirements on service temperature and media compatibility, various ECOPUR polyurethane materials are available.
For higher gliding speeds we recommend thermoplastic materials, but attention should be paid to limitations in extrusion resistance, installation difficulties and leak tightness.
Alternative materials for the energizer (such as FPM, MVQ, EPDM, H-NBR, etc.) are only used in very special cases
