All profiles listed here are SKF standard machined K09 piston seals and can be produced in virtually any dimension and in different materials.
K09 piston seals are energizer loaded, double-acting compact hydraulic seals with integrated guiding elements designed to seal between two pressurized spaces, mainly for reciprocating movements in heavy duty applications.
These seals are part of the comprehensive SKF machined seals assortment and the design is based on applications in standard hydraulic systems with conventional hydraulic oils. The operating parameters are as defined in the sealing and material data sheet. Requirements deviating from these parameters can be met to a certain degree by changing the geometry in the SKF SEAL JET machine software.
Application range
- Reciprocating pistons in hydraulic cylinders
- Piston seal for clamping function respectively high requirements for movement – valid for K09-D, K09-H
- Piston seal for clamping function respectively low requirements for movement – valid for K09-N
- Piston seal for low friction applications or when smooth running is required – valid for K09-F
- Piston seal in high pressure cylinders (e.g. mining) – valid for K09-H
Materials
Material selection has a significant impact on the seal performance as well as reliability of the whole system.
Recommended sealing materials and operating parameters are defined in the seal data sheets.
You can see the recommended standard material combinations for the different K09 designs in the table below.
| Design | K09-D | K09-F | K09-H | K09-N |
| Sealing element | ECOPUR | SKF Ecoflon 3 | ECOPUR | ECOPUR |
| Energizer | SKF Ecorubber-1 | SKF Ecorubber-1 | SKF Ecorubber-1 | SKF Ecorubber-1 |
| Back-up ring | SKF Ecotal | SKF Ecotal | SKF Ecotal | SKF Ecotal |
For special requirements on service temperature and media compatibility, various ECOPUR polyurethane materials are available.
For higher gliding speeds we recommend thermoplastic materials, but attention should be paid to limitations in extrusion resistance, installation difficulties and leak tightness.
Alternative materials for the energizer (such as FPM, MVQ, EPDM, H-NBR, etc.) are only used in very special cases.
Available seal versions
There are different versions of the K09 seals with specific features available (please find more detailed information in the related detailed profile descriptions and seal data sheets linked below).
