All profiles listed here are SKF standard machined S01 rod seals and can be produced in virtually any dimension and in different materials.
S01 rod seals are asymmetric, single-acting lip seals designed to seal pressurized space against the atmosphere, mainly for reciprocating movements.
These seals are part of the comprehensive SKF machined seals assortment and the design is based on applications in standard hydraulic systems with conventional hydraulic oils. The operating parameters are as defined in the sealing and material data sheet. Requirements deviating from these parameters can be met to a certain degree by changing the geometry in the SKF SEAL JET machine software.
Application range
- Reciprocating rods in hydraulic cylinders, push rods and fittings
- Rod seal for applications with small extrusion gap and without special external loading
- If composite seals on PTFE basis (e.g. S09-E) used, this rod seal can be used as secondary seal
- Also applicable as pivot seal at low loads
Materials
Material selection has a significant impact on the seal performance as well as reliability of the whole system.
Recommended sealing materials and operating parameters are defined in the seal data sheet. For S01-P ECOPUR is the recommended standard material. For S01-R SKF Ecorubber-1 is the recommended standard material.
For special requirements on service temperature and media compatibility up to a certain extent, various polyurethane materials are available.
For increased wear resistance and higher pressure ranges we recommend S01-P with ECOPUR polyurethane materials, but attention should be paid to the difference in chemical resistance and service temperature range.
For increased chemical and thermal resistance, we recommend S01-R made of SKF Ecorubber materials, but attention should be paid to the limitation in wear and pressure resistance.
